In the thought of Irvin Yalom, belief in freedom is the initial and important condition for moving on the path of individual life transformation. He considers an authentic life meaningful when a person accepts freedom and responsibility for "herself" and for what he/she has done or has not done. Man is responsible for identifying, choosing, and determining the path of his life's evolution; however, in his thought, man, on the one hand, does not have a predetermined pattern or path, and on the other hand, he feels a kind of mission to forge the seemingly discovered meaning in himself. Distinguishing between freedom, liberation, and choice, Allama Jafari considers freedom as a thing has certain conditions. He believes that reasonable and sublime freedom, supervision and domination of a person over the two positive and negative poles of work- based on the two conditions: "suitability" and "aiming for goodness,"- can bring human action into the realm of lofty values, which is the status of prophets and divine saints, and freedom in a such circumstances and degree can bring to the meaningfulness of life آزادی، دلواپسی وجودی اگزیستانسیال است که ریشه در بی‌پایگی بنیادین بشر دارد و حاکی از آگاهی ذهن از مسئولیت است. در اندیشه اروین یالوم باور به آزادی شرط آغازین و مهم حرکت در مسیر تحول فردی است؛ وی زندگی اصیل را زمانی معنادار می‌داند که انسان آزادی و مسئولیت «خود» و آنچه انجام داده یا نداده را بپذیرد. انسان مسئول شناسایی، انتخاب و تألیف مسیر تحول زندگی خود است اما در اندیشه یالوم این انسان از یک‌سو الگو و مسیری از پیش تعیین‌شده ندارد و از سویی دیگر نوعی رسالت برای جعل معنای به‌ظاهر کشف‌شده در خود احساس می‌کند. علامه جعفری با تفکیک میان آزادی، رهایی و انتخاب، آن‌ را حامل شروطی دانسته، معتقد است آزادی معقول و تصعید شده نظارت و سلطه شخصیت بر دو قطب مثبت و منفی کار با ابتنای بر دو قید «شایسته» و «هدف‌گیری خیر» می‌تواند عمل انسان را به منطقه ارزش‌های والا که مقام انبیاء و اولیا الهی است وارد کند در چنین شرایطی آزادی در این درجه عامل معناداری زندگی می‌شود.
